¿Es necesario definir el contexto del personaje y de la obra? Platón nació en Atenas (427 - 347 a. C.), cuna del florecimien- to filosófico griego. Fue seguidor de Sócrates y maestro de Aristóteles. El contexto se encontraba permeado de una reli- giosidad griega, la cual se identificaba con la mitología, que sostenía que algunos hombres estaban destinados a ser dioses o en su caso hombres. Los hombres, además, tenía la influen- cia de la moira (destino), que definía sus vidas, también tenían los oráculos con fines proféticos, la vida pública estaba regido por él, ya que eran consultadas muchas de sus actividades que realizaba la población (guerras, viajes). Los mitos son reto- mados en los textos de Platón, la mayor parte de sus obras están escritas en forma de diálogos, como instrumento para exponer sus ideas, lo cual será significativo no sólo en su for- ma, sino también en su significado, pues es una manera muy didáctica de trabajar el conocimiento. Nos dice la literatura que en los diálogos se representan las escenas con los personajes involucrados, eso hace Platón en sus diferentes obras, presenta las conversaciones entre dos o más personas, intercambiando puntos de vista, de manera reflexiva, de un tema determina- do. Platón en su obra el Timeo trató diversos temas, habló del origen del universo, de manera cosmogónica (mítico), de cómo está compuesta la materia y de la naturaleza humana. En el libro Diálogos I de Platón se plantea que él es el camino obli- gado que hay que recorrer para entender la filosofía, éste es 2 considerado el Adán filosófico , ya que los temas que trata son muy diversos: filosofía, política, psicología, cosmogonía, epistemología, ética, metafísica, entre otros. 2 Platón, Diálogos I, Gredos, España, 2015, 7. 13
