SECTION A Read Passage One and Two carefully and answer the questions that follow. Passage One Navies are known for providing security in the water areas of their various countries. To perform this role. the navies use ships and other water crafts to patrol the waters. The waters in which most of the navy ships patrol are mainly oceans. There are 5 oceans in the world namely Arctic. Atlantic. Indian. Pacific and Southern Ocean. A section of Nigeria is bordered by the Atlantic ocean and that section comprise of 9 States with ocean water. The States are Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Gross River, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Rivers State. Many of these States are crude oil producing States. The States also have a lot of fishes and natural resources in their ocean section. Furthermore, some of the states have very lucrative supports where export and import of natural resources and finished products are done. The money realized from the sale of crude oil, fishes, natural resources and levies generated In the seaports are used for building schools, markets, hospitals, roads and other social facilities for the wellness of Nigeria. To ensure that the ocean is safe so that Nigeria can continue to generate monies for its prosperity, the Nigerian Navy uses its ships and computer aided facilities to monitor and provide security for the country’s ocean section. To ensure effectiveness, the Nigerian Navy invests in building ships to carry out several military activities for the security and exploitation of the nation's ocean section. Recently, the Nigerian Navy commissioned Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) LANA and will soon commission NNS KADA. NNS LANA is capable of providing security information, weather prediction, support deep-sea mining industries, generate relevant information on the behaviour of the sea and its, contents for the economic growth of Nigeria. This means that the Nigerian Navy does not only provide security for the nation's water, but it also supports civil industries to safely carry out their activities for the economic growth of Nigeria. I like the patriotism of the Nigerian Navy and that is why i want to be a naval personnel in the future. I will start my future career by schooling in a Nigerian Navy Secondary School so that I can gain the required academic knowledge and discipline to be a good naval personnel. 1.
