que originó la materia (lo que no se ve). Así —siguiendo este hilo conductor— concluye que el universo fue creado gracias a la necesidad de tener un espacio, para dar paso a la creación (los seres animados) en el mismo. Esto gracias a una inteligen- cia —y esto hay que subrayarlo— que esculpiría todo que lo que hay, ordenándolo para su funcionamiento. «Como ya fue dicho al principio, cuando el universo se encontraba en pleno desorden, el dios introdujo en cada uno de sus componentes las proporciones necesarias para consigo mismo y para el resto y los hizo tan proporcionados y armónicos como le fue posi- ble»15. En este principio ordenador se observa la necesidad de la idea de colocar cada uno de los elementos del universo en su lugar, para su buen funcionamiento. Dicho de otra manera: que el orden le es necesario a la materia, pues no basta la materia por sí misma si carece de orden. Esto permite comprender el hecho de que los haya dotado de una existencia que denota dependencia: a algunos les dio vida; a otros, sólo existencia; sin embargo, los hizo juntos y complementarios, en un mismo espacio. Este principio ordenador se vuelve a retomar en esta parte del texto, se muestra en la creación la necesidad de orden. El ser está en la naturaleza, es el que la rige y en ella podemos identi昀椀car cua- tro elementos que la componen: tierra (habitan los animales, crecen las plantas y se alimenta el hombre; agua (sin ella no habría vida en el mundo, todo ser vivo necesita de ella para vivir y realizar sus funciones vitales); aire (elemento necesario para la vida, sin el aire lo rayos solares dañarían la tierra, se necesita del oxígeno para la respiración); fuego ( fue básico para la el avance de la civilización humana, con él se pudo cocinar, cazar y obtener calor, gracias a él 15 Platón, Diálogos VI, Gredos, España, 2015, 223 19
