Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Social-emotional learning (SEL) helps students develop self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills. Strong social-emotional abilities assist students with their academic work and their social skills. Yosemite Valley Charter School and Monarch River Academy are committed to supporting our families. From immediate crisis situations to regularly scheduled counseling, our SEL Team meets our families where they are. We have been offering SEL for High School credit classes for three years. These have been hugely popular with students and families. In November 2021, we started offering SEL Tier 3 (counseling) to support parents and families. We are humbled to say that through the SEL Tier 3, we have been able to support over 300 individuals in our charter's ecosystem (students, staff, parents, families).
