THE 2024 GREAT AMERICAN ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY AT ROBESON COMMUNITY COLLEGE RCC students, faculty, and sta昀昀 had a chance to witness a rare moment in history as the Great American Eclipse made its way from Texas to Maine. Although RCC was not in the path of totality, hundreds lined up to see the partial eclipse as the moon passed by the sun on April 8, 2024. One couple stopped o昀昀 I-95 to fuel up, saw the watch party on our sign, and decided to check it out, as did many locals. Solar sunglasses were provided, and a telescope was available for viewing. RCC’s Science faculty hosted the event, with Astronomy Instructor David Gavasci on hand to answer questions. 吀栀e event garnered media attention from WBTW, WPDE, WMBF, and the Robesonian, and RCC even got streamed live by CBS across all a昀케liates as they covered the event from coast to coast.
