As with so many other sailing events last year, Taittinger RSYC Regatta 2023 faced unseasonal gales on the Saturday. Whilst this kept everyone ashore, there were plenty of activities on offer in Yarmouth and over 1,500 people attended the legendary Towers Party in the evening, by kind permission of John Caulcutt. Spectacular racing in blustery conditions in the Western Solent on the Sunday was memorable for all involved and a lively prize giving with generous prizes for all classes rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Hosted by the Royal Solent Yacht Club in the picturesque harbour town of Yarmouth, this regatta attracts a real mix of crews and yachts. The Royal Solent is looking forward to welcoming competitors old and new to the Taittinger RSYC Regatta 2024. COWES WEEK 27 July – 2 August Since 1826 Cowes Week has played a key part in the British sporting summer calendar and is one of the UK’s longest running and most successful sporting events. The seven-day regatta stages around 40 daily races for up to 600 boats and has a varied race programme to suit the most competitively campaigned boats, cruiser racers, and everything in between; there’s something for everyone at this, the world’s best known sailing regatta. Cowes Week attracts thousands of competitors ranging from Olympic and world-class professionals to weekend sailors, and in excess of 60,000 spectators come to watch the sailing and to experience the unique atmosphere. To add to the on-the-water action, the lively apres-sail atmosphere at Cowes Week means there are plenty of social and exciting onshore activities for sailors and spectators. Cowes has a fantastic range of pubs, cafes, restaurants and yachts clubs, all welcoming competitors and visitors to the town. Combined with the pop-up venues, bars and retailers at Cowes Yacht Haven Event Village, the Lawn Bar at Northwood House and the busy Cowes Parade Regatta Village with its Crew Bar, food stalls and family-friendly entertainment, there really is something for everyone. The Cowes Week Spectator App, available to download from the App Store, provides visitors to the Regatta with live, real-time information on all racing and shoreside activities. cowesweek.co.uk Taittinger RSYC Regatta, Jake Sugden MBA LRPS Cowes Week, Paul Wyeth
