A Tribute to Rabindranath Tagore: By Ayan Adak e-mail: [email protected] Poem - All the Songs you Never Wrote Ayan All the songs you never wrote That melancholy in subtle grace Fill a raindrop in the eye, Has countered endless tears, What you wrote, rises like a n’orwester In the darkest night, your verses strong A smile upon a summer sky Has helped conquer those fears For your works are sealed in golden words And many have picked, in that wake That even time cannot forget, The quill of written dreams The notes transcend these mortal souls Wrapping griefs and joys of life Beyond banal love and hate In countless paper reams But more than all the moving words, An autumn line has sparked a book, A grander gift you’ve sown A single word - a song, You have inspired souls with that urge to write - That ‘small rivulet’ has turned a sea, Each now, an artist on his own That legacy is so strong Rabindranath Tagore in Japan in 1916 A TO Z INDIA ● JUNE 2023 ● PAGE 12
