There has been a synthesis between various cultures, between the local and the universal and between the past and the present. It is only when we recognize the wholeness of our existence and life around us that we are able to arrive at a correct picture. We cannot and must not categorize human beings or life into various segments, whether it is economic or cultural, material or spiritual, functional or aesthetic, intellectual or emotional. It is only the whole package together that makes a human being. India is what she is today, because fine arts were kept alive here as a part of the very life of our people.
