The City palace was the residence of the former Maharaja of Jaipur. The museum rooms have displays ranging from historic art to armory – there is a lot to see in the palace so expect to spend between 1-2 hours here. The Hawa Mahal The Hawa Mahal is one of the most distinctive landmarks of Jaipur and our next stop in the one day trip. The monument gives the ultimate vibe of the Pink City, being extraordinarily pink painted, structured into a honeycomb like design and stretching up to five storeys. It was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 to enable women of the royal household to watch the life and processions of the city. The top of the Mahal offers stunning views of Jantar Mantar and the City Palace in one direction and of Sireh Deori Bazaar in the other.
