MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT It’s summertime at Robeson Community College, and what an amazing time this is. 吀栀is is the time that many will decide to attend Robeson Community College in the Fall to pursue their dreams of becoming a nurse, an electrician, an accountant, a teacher or exploring a myriad of other endless possibilities. And, it’s the time that we see so many new faces come through our doors to register, take campus tours, and are excited about what their future holds. Education changes lives, and it can change yours. No matter your age, income, or profession, Robeson Community College has something for you. 吀栀ree sisters from Robeson County had always dreamed of becoming registered nurses, but they never thought they would land in the same classes and graduate at IN THIS ISSUE the same time, but they did. 吀栀is May, Dolly, Loretta, and Latasha Rice all received COVER STORY: Three Sisters Earn an associate degree and graduated from the associate degree nursing program. As 2 Associate Degree in Nursing you’ll read in their story, the program was challenging, at times they cried, but they never gave up on their dream and persevered. 吀栀ey all have accepted positions at 4 Photo Contest Winner: area hospitals. 吀栀e sisters range in age from 35 to 29, they are all single mothers and Elisa Rodriguez all three worked as CNAs to put themselves through school. 吀栀ey show us all that 5 Photos: RCC Solar Eclipse Watch you can do anything you put your mind to if you try. Party 2024 “SOAR” Poetry Contest Winner Robeson Community College’s Early College continues to be a beacon of hope, a 6 Khristona Locklear light that shines brightly allowing high school students an opportunity to excel and accelerate their education. One graduate, Jimmy Dong, has received $100,000 in 7 2024 Faculty Poetry Winner scholarships to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology this fall. 吀栀e quality Joey Hinson education available at RCC can help you go anywhere, and we continue to hear one 8 Jimmy Dong racks up $100,000 in success story a昀琀er another of students who have become UNC Tar heels, UNCP scholarships to attend RIT Braves, UNCW Seahawks, or a part of the NCSU Wolfpack family. 9 RCC pays tribute to MLK Sometimes, all you need is, someone to invite you to campus, like Regina Walters. 9 RCC Reconnect Kickoff Regina was invited to an information session about the Early Childhood Education 9 Original Poetry by Azure “Dee” program. She accepted it and attended. Two years later, she walked across the stage Thompson and is now a proud graduate of Robeson Community College. She was the kitchen 11 Recipes from RCC’s Culinary Arts manager for Head Start in Pembroke, and now, she will become a teacher helping Regina Walters named Academic kids from ages 2 to 5 to grow, learn, and develop. 12 Excellence Award Winner I invite all of you to stop by our campus and talk with our admissions o昀케cers or our 14 Spring 2024 Headlines advisors in continuing education.
