Role of National Government Agencies over Local Road Management 7.1 General Role of National Government Agencies Consistent with the basic policy of the Local Government Code on local autonomy and devolution, the President shall exercise general supervision over local government units to ensure that their acts are within the scope of their prescribed powers and functions. This functional supervision over the LGUs may be delegated by the Oiffce of the President unto national government agencies having speciifc jurisdiction over sectoral administration (i.e. Department of Finance over local ifnance; Department of Budget and Management over local budgeting; Department of the Interior and Local Government over local governance, etc). In particular, the relationships of National Government Agencies over LGUs are as follows: a. National Supervision over Local Government Units i. The President shall exercise general supervision over local government units to ensure that their acts are within the scope of their prescribed powers and functions; ii. National agencies and oiffces with project implementation functions shall coordinate with one another and with the local government units concerned in the discharge of these functions.
