These are long bundles, 1.5 m to 9.0 m in length and 150 mm to 200 mm in diameter, of live branches tied together with growing tips oriented the same direction and tops evenly distributed throughout the length of the bundle. The fascines are placed in a 30 mm to 400 mm deep trench dug along the contour of the slope and secured in place with stakes.
