BIOS (CONT.) Otoqui Reyes Otoqui is the Director of the Hijos de Agueybana group, a group of eight artists, all committed to preserving their Afro-Caribbean roots. The group has more than ten years of experience conducting and offering workshops and courses on the historical and cultural importance of the bomba genre. SESSIONS Xingona: A Journey of family, Community and Healing In this presentation, Roxana Pardo Garcia will share stories, truths, and ancestral practices and strategies to facilitate the healing of our families, communities, and self in order to create the world we deserve. Family Corner A safe quiet place for children & families to step away. There will be storytime, coloring and other activities. One parent or caregiver must stay with child/children. The Heart Space Sound Bath with Manilai Experience sounds from crystal singing bowls as a full bodied immersive experience. You get to relax and let the sounds and vibrations and the healing energy integrate into your body and nourish all the cells of your being. Sound baths have been relaxing and restorative for her, and she loves sharing this experience with others. You will be invited to relax during this session. Youth Activities 1:20pm-2:00 pm Hearts & Crafts Tweens and teens (middle school+)-Explore your feelings and create art to match and to express them. 2:15 - 2:45 pm Retro Rewind: (ages 13+). Take a step back in time and remember the good times with classic games from childhood that inspire playful expression. 3:00 - 3:45 pm Silent Disco Preteens, teens, and adults (middle school+) Dance like no one is watching with a special curated playlist (pre-teens, teens, adults). 4:15 - 4:45 pm Reflections and Realizations (ages 13+) An insightful journey into journaling through new and uncomfortable feelings. 4:55 - 5:25 pm Overcoming Obstacles Course Kids and teens (kids/youth of all ages) Gain a new perspective as you learn to overcome obstacles both mentally and physically. Snack Corner Come and enjoy some free yummy snacks and drinks, located in the Elliot Ballroom. Labyrinths Explore wonderful labyrinths created by our own Dan Niven, one located outside the Elliot Ballroom and the other, a luminaria, in the Green Room next to the ballroom. Washington Therapy Dogs Come get some canine love! Washington Therapy Dogs will be located outside the Elliot Ballroom, in the deck area. Heart Art Make these mini essential wisdom double sided cards based on any theme or topic that you choose. But we will be encouraging participants to focus on themes or topics that have been challenging or provided challenges in your life.
